Based upon a long, rich musical heritage, God’s gift of music has always been an important part of High Street’s celebration of faith. All of our musical groups welcome new members – so come join us!

Chancel Choir

The High Street United Methodist Choir is a fun, highly accomplished group of singers from the church congregation. The director for over 30 years has been J. Chris Moore, who recently retired after serving over 40 years as Executive Director of The Springfield Arts Council. The choir sings each Sunday morning during the 9:30am traditional service throughout the fall, winter and spring.  Members of the choir provide special music during the summer.  The choir toured Germany around Springfield’s sister city of Wittenberg in 1999 and performed a choral tour of England in the steps of John Wesley in 2014. The choir rehearses on Sunday mornings at 8 AM.

Bell Choir

Composed of people of all ages, our bell choir performs periodically throughout the year at both worship services. Rehearsals are Monday evenings at 5:30 PM.

Contemporary Praise Team

Music for our contemporary worship service is provided by a band that includes a team of voices supported by a variety of instruments based on availability of musicians. The team is led by Kent Brooks, who also serves as the Director of the IMANI Gospel Choir at Wittenberg University. Rehearsal times vary based on the needs of the group.
